The Heart Behind BeYouBijoux

Growing up in a West African household, beauty was everywhere. Not just in the way things looked — but in the smells, the sounds, the energy. I have such vivid memories of celebrations: weddings, naming ceremonies, baby showers, Eid. The scent of traditional oils and incense always filled the air, and the rooms were bursting with color, laughter, and movement.

The women in my family were radiant — dressed in bold, shimmering bazins: cobalt, marigold, emerald, deep red. They wore headscarves tied with care, and jewelry that wasn’t just for decoration — it meant something. Every bangle, every necklace, every ring told a story — of love, of family, of heritage. I remember sitting with my cousins, sharing plates of thieb, dibi, and aloco, soaking in all the joy and togetherness.

Those moments weren’t just events — they were memories that stuck with me, golden and warm. And somewhere in all that sparkle and storytelling, I fell in love with jewelry. Not just as something pretty to wear, but as a way to express who you are. To me, jewelry has always been about pride, identity, and culture.

Growing up in New York City, though, daily life looked a little different. Like a lot of kids here, I wore a school uniform most days. It didn’t leave much room for self-expression — but jewelry? That was my loophole. It was how I added my own flair. Even if my outfit was the same as everyone else’s, a pair of hoops or a cute necklace helped me feel like me.

The only problem? I couldn’t wear my real jewelry — the pieces that meant the most to me — because they were too valuable or sentimental. So I turned to more affordable options from the beauty supply store. I loved them at first… until they tarnished or gave me a reaction. I realized how hard it was to find cute, quality jewelry that didn’t irritate my skin or break the bank.

And that’s when the idea for Beyoubijoux quietly began to form.

It was actually my dad who first pushed me to start selling jewelry. He got me my first batch of supplies, and that small gesture lit something in me. My parents have always been in my corner, cheering me on with every sale, every design, every new idea. That kind of love gave me the courage to go for it.

In high school, I started selling handmade jewelry — charm bracelets, waist beads, bold earrings, African-inspired pendants. I was learning as I went, one piece at a time. But once college started, life got hectic, and I had to pause. Even then, I kept getting compliments. People were still asking where I got my jewelry from. That constant support reminded me: this wasn’t just a phase. It was a passion waiting for me to come back to it with more clarity and purpose.

That purpose is what built Beyoubijoux — a brand rooted in culture, creativity, and confidence.

I created Beyoubijoux for people like me — people who love meaningful, stylish jewelry and want it to be high-quality, long-lasting, and kind to their skin. Pieces that feel just as good as they look. Pieces that help you express yourself — whether your vibe is bold, minimal, girly, edgy, or somewhere in between.

My collections are deeply inspired by my African roots — the colors, the textures, the symbolism. Every design reflects strength, softness, and self-love. I want you to feel powerful when you wear BeYouBijoux. I want you to feel like you.

Because to me, jewelry isn’t just an accessory. It’s a way of telling your story. And your story is beautiful — just the way it is.

Beyoubijoux is more than a jewelry brand. It’s a celebration of culture, a space for self-expression, and a daily reminder that being yourself is always in style.
